The UKTC
All our Instructors are fully qualified and insured to teach Taekwon-Do within the United Kingdom.
What is Taekwon-Do?Taekwon-Do is a Korean Martial art founded by General Choi Hong Hi on 11th April 1955.
Taekwon-Do translated to English means the Art of Hand and Foot fighting.
Or literally...
Foot (Tae), Hand (Kwon), Art (Do).
What can Taekwon-Do do for you?Taekwon-Do is a scientific use of the body for self-defence. As a martial art it has no equal. As an artform it is graceful yet powerful. As a sport it is dynamic, exciting and fun. Taekwon-do will improve your fitness, flexibility, coordination and self confidence. Taekwon-Do training is safe, practicle and most of all anjoyable. Taekwon-Do is for all ages, male or female. Children who acquire self confidence at an early age are far more likely to succeed in their adult ambitions.Taekwon-Do is one of the best ways of instilling confidence into children, whilst also emphasising the importance of respect and discipline. Our classes for children under the supervision of fully qualified instructors will encourage each child to acheive their potential, learning new skills and making new friends. For adults, our structured training program will help equip each student with the knowledge and necessary skills to ably defend themselves. What clothing to wearTo commence training with the UKTC new students should wear loose comfortable sportswear such as jogging trousers and a T-shirt. Taekwon-Do is a bare foot art therefore no footwear is required. The regulation UKTC training suit is called a DOBOK and can be purchased from your UKTC school instructor. Simply ask your instructor for an order form and he/she will be able to advise you about cost and size. Taekwon-Do insurance policy and membership of the UKTCEach student will be required to register their personal details (name/address/date of birth/emergency contact number) with their instructor at their first class. After the initial training session, each new student who wishes to continue training with the UKTC will be required to purchase a BTC insurance policy and formally become a member of the UKTC. Membership is acheived by way of completing a member application form and payment of the UKTC fee. The student will become a recognised member of UKTC and will receive a Grading Booklet (record of acheivement) and an insurance certificate (valid for 1 year). Application forms and any advice required regarding membership and insurance is available from your instructor Taekwon-Do syllabus and gradingsTaekwon-Do has a structured training schedule to allow all students to acheive their potential. There is a grading system which allows each student to train towards acheiving a higher rank signified by the colour of the belt the student will wear. The colour of the belt signifies the level of skill the student possesses. Gradings are held regularly at designated Grading Centres. Your instructor will work with you to acheive the necessary standard to be successful in these gradings. The instructor will advise the student when it is time for the student to apply for the gradings. Notice of gradings will be given in written form outlining the date, venue and cost. Only students who are registered members of the UKTC with a valid BTC insurance policy will be eligible to grade
